and heal. It’s not always easy, because living a healthy lifestyle isn’t
mainstream. I am still challenged by the daily commitment it takes to stay on track. But the outcome – feeling well – is the reward.
You deserve to feel well too.
Sometimes we get a wake-up call that we can’t ignore.
My youngest daughter was 15 months old when I started feeling the pain that wouldn’t go away. Over the course of 3 months, the pain worsened dramatically and progressed throughout my body. It took 6 months before I was finally diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and started medical treatment. I didn’t want to be on medication, but I was begging for relief. I couldn’t understand what I had done to make my body turn on itself because I had always tried to eat well and exercise.
My experience pointed me in the direction of prevention and holistic health.
I studied organic gardening, permaculture and food quality. I learned how our country’s food production has changed drastically for the worse in the past 100 years, while our environment and lifestyles have become more toxic and unhealthy. This eventually led me to Nutrition Therapy Institute, where I earned my Master Nutrition Therapist certificate. I learned how and why chronic disease develops. I learned the science of how the different systems of the body are interconnected, as well as the science of how nutrients work in the body. Happily, I’ve also learned that healthy, fresh foods can taste amazing while they nourish us!
I learned how nutrition and lifestyle practices can both optimize our health or lead us down an unhealthy path toward disease. And I knew that I wanted to share this knowledge.
My Holistic Philosophy …
Eat Whole Foods
While there is no one ideal diet for everyone, eating nutrient-dense whole foods is key to optimal health. Whole foods come straight from the plant or animal. They are unprocessed and unrefined or minimally processed. They are colorful, fresh and loaded with nutrients.
Prioritize Lifestyle
The best diet in the world isn’t enough if we don’t prioritize other parts of our health. Deep restorative sleep, mindful movement of our bodies throughout the day, and dedicated time to relax – these all work together to keep our bodies in a balanced healthy state.
Find Your Joy
We need passions in life, where we can learn, connect, and express our best selves. Work, hobbies, being out in nature, volunteering, music, art, spiritual connection, games, laughing, competing – whatever makes your heart swell with happiness supports your good health.
I am excited to work together, designing a personalized program to set you up for long-term success. I’ve been where you are – not feeling good or thriving. I look forward to using my training to inspire, motivate and guide you. You deserve to feel well!
